Etta James



A deadly blood infection has hospitalized blues singer Etta James Hawkins.

Reportedly, the singer is currently hospitalized at Riverside Community Hospital in Southern California. She's recovering from sepsis, a blood infection caused by a urinary tract infection. Medically speaking, Sepsis is a life-threatening illness in which the bloodstream becomes overwhelmed with bacteria.

The singer recently celebrated her 72nd birthday on January 25th. Despite historical documents revealing that the singer is actually 82 years old.

Her son Donto James has also admitted that his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's (dementia) a year ago and remains addicted to drugs (painkillers).

It is important to note that Joe Jackson (Michael Jackson's father) also suffers from Alzheimer's.

    “At Last” singer Etta James has been diagnosed with dementia and is undergoing treatment for leukemia.

    Her health condition was revealed in court documents pertaining to a civil case in Riverside County Superior Court in which her husband of 14 years, Artis Mills, is seeking control of more than $1 million of her money, according to The Press-Enterprise in Riverside County, Calif.

    In the papers, Beverly Hills physician Elaine James (no relation) states that the singer, 72, cannot sign her name and needs help with feeding, dressing and hygiene.

    James has not performed on stage since early 2010.
