Singer Esperanza Spalding


The multi-instrumentalist, song-writer, producer and arranger made history at the 53rd Annual Grammy Award celebration. She stunned the audience - but not the musically inclined - by taking home the award for Best New Artist. As noted, she was the youngest instructor at the renowned Berklee College of Music, performed alongside Herbie Hancock and also opened up tour stops for the artist known as “Prince”. This makes the first nomination and win for the 26 year old musician:
