Model Isabelle Caro

The French actress and model who used her image to campaign against anorexia has died at the age of 28.

According to online reports:
Isabelle Caro was recently seen on Jessica Simpson’s ‘Price of Beauty’ on VH1. Jessica was brought to tears as Isabelle spoke of her struggle with the disease.

Her longtime acting instructor, Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that Caro died on Nov. 17 after returning to France from a job in Tokyo.

Dubreuil-Prevot said she did not know the cause of death but that Caro “had been sick for a long time,” referring to her anorexia.

  1. This is sad to hear about Isabelle Caro passing especially the part about aneroxia. I wish these model agencies were not strict about these models weight. They have to realize not everyone is going to be skinny, and it is not healthy having these models having to be underweight.

  2. This right here was a sad situation. It was as if Hollywood didn't help this model with her condition. They used her and her condition. How can you campaign against anorexia when you have anorexia? Don't get me wrong, I know that it is possible but she was sick for a very long time.

At the end, she was getting paid for being anorexia and this caused her death.

  3. It would've wise to have a person who survived anorexia to campaign against it anorexia. They actually buried her before she died.

  4. I agree, Truthfully, she sealed her own fate doing this. It was a cry for help. The modeling industry is ruthless. I remember back in the day when I was seriously modeling that a woman at Elite agency told me to eat cotton wrapped in lettuce in order to lost 10 lbs.

At the time, I was 5'11.5 and 140 lbs. She said I'd need to at least get down to 130 in order to be sent on gigs and that even then, I'd be plus sized! I left her office and never went back. Days later, other models from the agency called me and asked me to lunch, so I went. When we got there, they all ordered salads, and one pulled out a baggie of cotton balls!!! I was so disgusted by this. They all mysteriously had to "use the bathroom" right after the meal too.

Anorexia is deeply rooted in mental illness in my opinion. My heart goes out to these young women who are literally dying to be thin.

  5. COTTON BALLS?!?!?! What the heck? Bump healthy, that doesn't even sound smart!!! It's horrible that someone actually tried that method of weight loss. SMH

  6. Wait - Did i just read cotton balls? Someone asked you to swallow cotton balls wrapped in lettuce---sounds like pure jealousy? It's truly a blessing that you went with your gut feelings and walked away from the modeling industry.

  8. Help me to understand the reason why it took over a month to share her death with the public.

  9. Yes, they call them "lettuce wraps" and then most people put emphasis on the word "wraps". Its a pretty common thing though. Supposedly, the cotton ball expands in your stomach and tricks your body into thinking that you are full. In return, many models either force them up via vomiting later, or abuse laxatives because it shuts down your digestion over time.

I knew quite a few girls who did this, and they got sent on a lot of gigs too. After a while, a lot of the models start on cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, and barbituates to maintain the weight loss.

I don't think it was jealously, its just pure sickness. These women will do ANYTHING to land a gig. It only takes one gig for you to be shot to the forefront. There were women who were WAY more gorgeous than me who were being asked to do it who gladly did. I was just considered fat (though I am athletic), and they wanted me to trim down quickly, because a lot of designers liked my "look", but said I was too "fat" to fit their clothing.

The fashion industry is a suss pool. And it brings tears to my eyes to think of all the young women who have been preyed upon by sicko agents, photographers, editors, and agencies all because they had the illusion of fame or fortune.
