In the May 2010 issue of Essence Magazine, Jill Scott interviews with Jeannine Amber and provides insight into her past marriage, current relationship status and how she's coping with life as a single parent. In addition to this, Jill speaks on her current studio project and what motivates her to 'push' forward despite her brief setbacks.
This interview is attached below for your review and comments.
Okay! Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteI read through the interview and Jill hooked up with this guy at a bad time. She didn't have enough time to heal from her failed marriage. She fell into a convenient situation with a guy who wasn't as convenient and accessible. Come on Jill, he has three children with three different baby mothers and he didn't marry them. So, what made you believe that your relationship with him was different? Exceptional? You wore your levels of desperation on your sleeve. You wanted a child and that's exactly what he gave you and those other women. There's an old saying that goes like this, 'Be careful what you wish for...and try laying down in the bed that you made...". You and Jett aren't alone. You have three other baby mothers to keep your son busy and he has three siblings, that he must get to know. These side attachments were stuffed in that bag you refused to sort through before your emptyied the contents inside.
For a women whose songs are filled with empowerment, it's sad to read how a quick love affair made her weak and vulnerable.
You see, it's east for a man to run game on a single woman with no kids...no children.
Your son is here and he's your gift. It sound as if Jill wanted the baby more than the man.
Why settle? Her mother settled? Jill, try jumping off your mother's path and create one of your own.
Find your own path Jill.
"These side attachments were stuffed in that bag you refused to sort through before you emptied the contents inside."
ReplyDeleteShe accepting advice from Mo'nique and Erykah Badu? That's hilarious! Totally hilarious!
ReplyDeleteBoth women have deep rooted issues that have yet to be address. How can you accept advice from these women? Badu is Jill's competition. Why is she accepting advice from Badu? I thought Jill was a tough girl who grew up in the inner city of Philly?
Badu has three children by three different baby fathers.
ReplyDeleteJill, jump off of Badu's path and create one of your own!
Jill's baby father has three children by three different baby mothers.
ReplyDeleteShe's hanging around all the wrong people. Girl, grow up or crash and burn!
Sorry but that brother that Jill had a baby by looks zestier than a m------f------ r. You know gay men that are in the closet data and even marry BIG women. They are their beard. The heavy sister is just soooooo glad to have someone that they look the other way. NOT ALL BIG WOMEN.
ReplyDeleteDarn lol...... I meant date not data.
ReplyDeleteHave y'all noticed that all the so called Neo soul artist are all spaced that heck out now. The industry DESTROYED Lauren hill. O believe she didn't want to conform to their standards, so they messed up her career.
ReplyDeleteDag. For a women who sings empowering songs, this is such a sad story to read. Jill was depressed and fell for the okie doke. Now she's caught up. And there are too many gay men in Philly. TOO MANY!
ReplyDeleteThe industry is destroying Jill, Badu and they already destroyed Lauren Hill.
ReplyDeleteI just read that Jill was disappointed at her front page cover shot.
ReplyDeleteIt sound like she should be upset over the contents of this article and how she allowed herself to open up A LOT.
Essence has her MOUTH wide open on the cover for a reason. She let it all out. All of her business and she's not to happy about this.
Will she continue to write monthly columns for Essence Magazine? I think not, especially if she signed a legal agreement to do so.
Essence is owned and operated by faggot Jews now. Why do Black people feel the need to sale their shyt to crackers all the darn time
ReplyDeleteokay....idk y all yall r hatin on JIll...so what.. her nd her ex-fiance didnt work out it's not like she new they weren't qoinq tew be tew qether 4-eva...nd nye she has a new man in the house....JETT!!!!!!!...nd yall really need tew qet a life yall prolly dnt even have a man ya damn self!!!!
ReplyDelete-nd um ouhddie
WHATEVER!
ReplyDeleteJILL SCOTT WAS PRESS! SHE WANTED A MAN TO GIVE HER A CHILD. THAT WAS IT! SHE WAS PRESS! HE AL READY HAD CHILDREN AND DIDN'T BOTHER TO MARRY THEIR MOTHERS. RIGHT AFTER JILL ENTERED HER 5th or 6th month HE LEFT. IT'S THE SAME THING HE DID WITH ALL THOSE OTHER WOMEN. JILL WAS MARRIED...YEAH THAT'S TRUE. SHE'S GOT HER DIVORCE AND THAT NEXT DUDE KNEW SHE WAS WAS WEAK FOR LOVE AND ATTENTION. SHE WAS A SON NOW AND I BET SHE WILL BE LOOKING FOR A FATHER OR A MALE ROLE MODEL FOR HER SON. SHE'S JUST LIKE HER MOTHER! JILL'S FATHER LEFT HER MOTHER WHEN SHE PREGNANT WITH JILL.
People talk strong and big online. None of us is perfect. She can write and sing whatever songs she wants. The industry is ruining all the neo-soul artists? Give me a break.
ReplyDeleteIndividuals are accountable for their own situations. Being a soul singer doesn't make you immune to human behavior. Everyone on here judging her probably has skeletons and bones so big in their closet they can't close the doors. Lauryn left because she didn't want to bend to what was being presented to her, and she was dealing with a new family and other already existing mental problems. She is coming back so I guess the industry must not be too bad. Badu, she had the kids, she had the men, no one forced her to do that. There are dozens of sistas and brothas that make neo-soul music that don't have these problems. These are related to the individuals, not the genre people.
Most women I know have kids and are unmarried. She hooked up with a guy who wasn't what she thought he was. Who hasn't done that? She had a kid with a man and the relationship didn't work out. How many women go through that same thing? Plenty.
Someone said something about her being big. Please, there isn't a man I know that wouldn't be glad to get with her. She is beautiful, not weak, not super obese, and talented and has a lot to offer anyone. People take it too far online with these judgments these days.
All you anonymous people talking smack about the woman are all H-A-T-E-R-S. I'm sure some of you same cowards have been through similar situations or at least personally know people who have. Get over yourselves
ReplyDeleteMaybe they have but it doesn't distort the fact that Jill Scott sings music that inspires women to avoid this type of situation.
ReplyDeleteSomeone how she didn't listen nor accept the advice she has given to other women.
she fell for a well known two timer, she got what she want (a baby) so now she don't have to feel so lonely.
We all want to beleive that any new relationship will work out. Jill is no different from the rest of us. I am very happy for her. Life goes on!!
ReplyDelete@SoleAbstrakt you hit the nail on the head!
ReplyDeleteSome of these negative comments are pitiful!
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day...Jill is human! She's a grown woman and she can live her life the way she chooses. Her personal life is just that, hers. I think Jill is a beautiful woman and she makes great music.
Jill is a beautiful woman! She rights from experience...the good, the bad, and the ugly. As a human she is going to make mistakes over and over so y'all need to look for a Savior somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteY'all just silly.
Yo azz da one looking for a saviour in dis trick! So if anyone's silly up in here, it's yo azz!
Delete*she writes. :p
ReplyDeleteFuck what cha heard, the industry DOES destroy people's lives! Especially if u don't conform to their devil worshipping ways. ANOTHER THING, YOU DUMB MF THAT OVER USE THE WORD "HATER" NEEDS TO FIND ANOTHER TERM! Just because a person has an opinion that's different from urs do not make dem a hater!
