"They [weren't] prepared for a person like myself...They [were] basically out for themselves. I never was on a team like that. I was always on a team that was supportive of what I wanted to do and this time it was more like 'we need you to do this.' People know me to create new artists [and to] continuously come with new people. Once I realized I was basically on my own in that building, I said 'it's time for me to get out of here.' I saw the decline of Def Jam and I was just like 'I don't want to be a part of a sinking ship.'...[There's] definitely hard feelings because I'm not cool with people stunting my growth. I'm a person that keeps growing. Everybody knows the history of Jermaine Dupri. Everybody knows what I've done from day one from one group to the next, it was all new artists and you have to continue doing that. If you get in the way of that you stunt that growth. They [have] bigger problems to deal with, I mean I'm not running around like 'f*ck Def Jam!' I'm just saying I would not really deal with them ever again...It feels like it's a resurgence of independent labels...It just feels like the right thing for me."

Parlux fragrances has partnered with Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, to release two new perfumes under the names of two hip hop and pop superstars: Kanye West and Rihanna.

Jay-Z and a "unnamed" female singer have signed the deal with Parlux. It has been estimated that within two years, the four brands could generate $150 million. In addition, these celebrities will own 12 million shares in Parlux.

In July, an unusual "Parlux" experiment took place at a lounge in downtown Manhattan. Several women were blindfolded and presented with a few "sniff" samples of products filled with synthesizes pheromones.

Many manufacturers are dropping tinctures of synthesized pheromones into their formulas, claiming that this will boost a persons sex appeal and confidence.

The pheromone of choice for men is a family of steroids, related to testosterone, found near the axillary glands in the underarm area. For women, a commonly used compound is estratetraenol, a derivative of the sex hormone estradiol.

Rihanna and Kanye West’s fragrances will be released in summer 2010. Jay-Z's fragrant is already out and many who know him well are already wearing this pheromones filled fragrance.

To include, Ludacris has signed with CAA for representation in all areas, including music, acting, endorsements and philanthropy. It has been reported that he's in negotiations with MTV, Starz and BET to develop and produce scripted and reality TV series that include the docu-reality series "Inside DTP." He has consolidated his representation at CAA, which will also rep him for endorsements.

Music producer Timberland's younger brother is on the rise. Sebastian has been a part of a small pool of ghostwriters that Timbaland relied on for his solo recordings since the early 2000s. They say that he has a hit that's in heavy rotation titled, "Wobbly" and its suppose to be a song that encourages ladies to drink up so they'll be more open to his advances??? How foolish...

Throughout the years, this "silent" business move has become a secret formula amongst celebrities. As i browsed through the internet, i came across a article written by Scott Barr, who discovered that the American Idol judges are also "silent authors"...

They say that a recording artist never make money off of their CD's..instead, the real money flows in through endorsements and the release of "Books" and "DVDs". If you don't believe, me....well - ask Beyonce. There are several biographies and memoirs in print.

Mathew Knowles is receiving a nice percentage off these.

There's also a book titled, "Contemporary Black Biography: Profiles From the International Black Community". It has profiles on Beyonce and Jay-Z's family tree. In addition, there's a reason why this book cost $130.00....

Sued: Barbara McKinzie

Members of the country’s oldest black sorority are suing to remove their president, alleging she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of the group’s money on herself –some of it to pay for a wax statue in her own likeness.

The lawsuit is a rare sign of discord among the sorority, founded in 1908 at Howard University. Alpha Kappa Alpha boasts a worldwide membership of 250,000 women, including author Toni Morrison, U.S. Reps. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Diane Watson (D-Calif.), Radio One chairwoman and founder Catherine Hughes, actress-entertainer Jada Pinkett Smith, the late civil rights leader Coretta Scott King and poet Maya Angelou.

The suit also claims President Barbara McKinzie bought designer clothing, jewelry and lingerie with the sorority credit card and then redeemed the card’s reward points to buy a big-screen TV and gym equipment.

A Movie, A Book and A New CD: Janet Jackson

How do you deal with the loss of a love one? Well...you WORK!

Many buzz worthy websites are reporting that Janet has thrown herself into her "work" following the death of her brother. She's preparing to release a book, star in a movie and produce a new CD.

Her memoir is currently untitled and will provide an intimate look at her life. This book will focus on her issues with self-esteem and provide details of her career and a few things that were never-before revealed.

Jackson is also currently filming "Why Did I Get Married Too," the Tyler Perry-penned sequel to their hit, "Why Did I Get Married." Jackson reprises her role as psychologist Patricia.

Jackson's brand new album will hit stores in early 2010.

A Star Is Born Remake: Beyonce Knowles???

Basil Iwanyk is planning to cast Beyonce in the remake of "A Star Is Born". This film is projected to began shooting in the UK in the spring of 2010. Beyonce has a fetish for remaking the works of a dead person. It's apparent throughout her music videos....

Martha Reeves has lost the Detroit council seat

After one term in office, the former Motown singer tenure on the Detroit City Council has ended.

It has been reported that Martha Reeves lost in the city’s nonpartisan primary on Tuesday.

The 68-year-old Reeves tells Detroit’s WDIV-TV that she’ll concentrate on her music career.

Of the six incumbents running for re-election, only Reeves failed to move on to the Nov. 6 general election.

She has been criticized for missing council meetings and for voting against a state plan to turn Detroit’s Cobo Center over to a regional authority. The convention center hosts the North American International Auto Show each January.

The Boot: "Americana"

To commemorate its 20th anniversary, VILLA, an urban retailer of footwear in Philadelphia, has collaborated with rapper Jay-Z and Udi Avshalom of Training Camp NYC to deliver the limited edition "Americana" boot. The oil tan Bison leather boots with a crepe-sole and Goodyear welt construction are being made at the Cove Shoe Co. in Martinsburg, Blair County, a division of H.H. Brown Shoe Co.



It has been reported that only 54 pairs will be made, and they will come in two colors, brown and black. The Americana comes in whole sizes only and will be released on Sept. 15, retailing for $200.

Beginning the second week of September, Jay-Z will release a new CD, a book and these boots. Udi Avshalom is also responsible for creating a line of "climber" boots for the "Roc" shoe department.
