Farewell: Chuck Brown

"Chuck Brown rescued hometown D.C. from the image of a government town that couldn’t keep a beat to a hometown with its own funky beat. Composers have created songs about cities – New York, New York; Chicago; I Left My Heart in San Francisco. But the Godfather of Go-Go gave our city a great big musical genre and a unique sound distinctly our own." --- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton spoke the following statement during the Home Going service for Chuck Brown. The service was held at the Washington Convention Center and a public viewing was held at the Howard Theatre last Tuesday. For more, click here.
